Chalets Hanakee

Tehina was such a warm host, always going the extra mile to make us feel at home. The chalet itself was spotless, comfortable, and cozy, with great amenities and a breathtaking view. We loved our stay in Hiva Oa!

We were two adults with our two kids, and the terrace at our family chalet had an amazing view. The washing machine was especially handy, and the place was well equipped. Tehina gave us a lovely welcome, and we left Hiva Oa with so many good memories.

Kahoa nui, The view from the chalet was something else, and inside it was comfortable, clean, and well ventilated, a real relief in the heat. The beds were great too, including for naps with the little ones. What made the week special, though, was the family looking after us. I’ve stayed in guesthouses all over France, and at 50 I’ve never been welcomed so warmly. Tehina, her friend, and her son looked after us every day with such bright smiles. Mr. and Mrs. Lecordier were just as welcoming and easy to talk to. Tematai and Pifa, two sturdy Marquesan warriors, shared the history of Hiva Oa’s people and greeted us at the airport like old friends. My wife and I had come to Tahiti for work, then decided to spend a week exploring Hiva Oa with Hanakee Chalets. I want to be clear that I mean Hanakee Chalets, which is a completely different experience from Hanakee Resort Hotel. Five out of five. Being welcomed like that by a family is priceless. Wishing them all the best for 2020.

The terrace has an extraordinary view across the bay. The bungalows are clean and sensibly laid out, and five of us had enough room without getting in each other's way. The kitchenette worked well, with an oven, four-burner stove, drinking-water tap, and fridge-freezer. There's a washing machine in the bathroom, plus a dryer if you ask. It's a little way from the village, though round-trip transport can be arranged on request.
