A nightmare of a place, two stars at most. The photos are misleading, and the service is as bad as it gets. They don’t serve food or even sell water. They’ll give you one small bottle, then tell you to drink from the bathroom sink if you want more, and you’re in the tropics. They could at least offer a list of places that deliver food and water, but there’s nothing. The surroundings are deserted after 7 p.m., with no place to eat within a mile. The building seems like a former hospital that was badly turned into a hotel. Seriously, it’s a horror show.

The building needs a complete renovation, with parts actually falling down. The rooms are very dark, the showers don’t work, and the pillows are hard with uncomfortable beds. Our room had a stove and oven but no pots, pans, bowls, or cleaning cloths. Our tour company booked it for us, and if it hadn’t been prepaid, we would have moved.

Everything was chipped, stained, splintered, or broken in my room, which badly needed repairs. The photos must show a remodeled room, because mine wasn’t as advertised. The website promises room service and a patio or balcony in every room, but there was no room service and my room had only a window with a broken lock. The door lock was broken too, and the wood frame around it was splintered. You can hear everything: people talking, doors slamming, traffic, even someone whistling in the hall at 5 a.m. The sheets were clean, I’ll give it that, but I wouldn’t come back.

It’s fairly close to the airport, and free parking is included. The room was small and basic but had a fridge. The bathroom looked rough and badly needed a deep clean, enough that you might want to shower with shoes on. The hotel is outdated and seems not to have been renovated or cleaned in a long time. Check-in is at 2 p.m.; if you want to arrive earlier, it costs an extra $20. For the island, it’s the best deal you’ll find.

I booked a week at Hotel Sarah Nui for my mum and dad, and Mum loved the central location. It was convenient for everything she wanted to do, including the Market, the Ferry to Moorea, the Church, and the nearby Youth Rally. The hotel is simple and affordable, with four walls, a bed, a shower, and AirCon, so there was nothing to complain about. Meitaki Atupaka for looking after them on Mum’s 65th Birthday Holiday. She had a great stay and time. Thanks to the lady at the front desk for taking such good care of my mum. She told me how you looked after her and gave you cans of cornbeef as a gift. Mum said it felt safe for her and Dad to go parakoka, so I can recommend the place to fit older retirees. I booked through the Agoda app and it all went smoothly. I forgot to book the room for the day they arrived, but that was easily fixed once I paid. I’d also emailed their arrival time. There’s a nightwatchmen who can process the room booking if you arrive at 2 a.m. The front desk was quick and easy to communicate with. Free Wi-Fi is available, though Mum said you have to log in each time. For 4G+ mobile data, I set Mum’s Samsung A55 up with a Vini eSim in New Zealand the day before her flight. When she reached Tahiti, she only had to switch it on in the notifications panel. Meitaki atupaka Hotel Sarah Nui for looking after our Mamas and Papas.
