Hotel Royal Tahitien

We loved our night here. Breakfast was an amazing spread with live music, and the restaurant had a beautiful panoramic view. The room was lovely, the staff welcoming, and the food was good. We loved everything!

The decor feels a little dated, but the staff were friendly and the rooms and pool were clean. There’s a small Tahitian black sand beach directly behind the hotel, about a two-minute walk from the pool. If you swim to the right, east, and keep going for a while, there’s coral just before the spot where the small motorboats are docked. We saw a sea turtle and a moray eel.

Sunshine, ocean, a pool, and great staff were all I needed for a relaxing stay. The hotel arranged transport both ways, which got our vacation off on the right foot. The food at the restaurant was good, and since we stayed a while, we tried most of the menu. For a change, we found food trucks about 10 minutes away. It’s an economy-level place, so it met my expectations.

This is a very basic hotel. The staff member we dealt with seemed dismissive, and struggled with basic English. When we asked about tourist excursions and similar things, they wouldn’t help. Of all the Polynesian islands we visited, Tahiti was the least friendly and accommodating.
