Driftwood Resort

We called for the free shuttle pickup and it was about a 10 minute ride from the port. The resort is simple but clean, tropical, private, and peaceful on the bay. Patricia, the manager, was very accommodating, and the shuttle driver was good and made us feel safe. Hilda at the bar and Sophia, our waitress, were great, and we enjoyed the food and drinks. Local patrons and tourists were friendly. We had a lovely day, with warm water for swimming off the pier, some coral a couple hundred yards away, and a fresh water shower.

The jetty is a lovely spot to sit with a few beers and unwind, and you can swim there too. Kids can paddle around in the kayaks for free. Walking through the driveway feels a bit like heading onto a boat, then the friendly staff welcome you in and you make your way through to the back, where the jetty is. There’s decent priced food and affordable rooms if you want to stay for the day or overnight. Driftwood is another amazing place to visit in Alotau. Before you drift away, come visit Alotau, especially Drift word Resort ✌️❤️😀

I was really disappointed by how this was handled. Our flight to Alotau was overbooked, so we missed our night at Driftwood. I called to explain, and was told we could use the credit toward a future stay. Since then I’ve sent three follow-up emails and haven’t received a reply. I’d understand if the stay couldn’t be credited for some reason, but being ignored is especially disappointing when we’d been so hopeful about staying at Driftwood. We won’t book here on our next visit or recommend the accommodation to others. With Air Niugini’s unreliability and Driftwood’s lack of communication, it feels too risky.

Our group of 10 were all very happy with the stay. We spent a week there and really enjoyed it. The rooms are spacious and right on the beachfront, the staff were helpful and courteous, and the restaurant food was very tasty.
