I had mixed feelings about the diving. I didn't see big fish or many fish in general, and coral cover seemed pretty low. You can imagine it must once have been a tropical underwater paradise, but I found the underwater pictures a bit misleading. The resort can't do much about that. I also had a day of stomach cramps, which wasn't fun. It went away after a day, and I suspect it was from there since I hadn't eaten outside food. The location is really nice, and it seems to be the only game in town, but I find the nightly cost crazy. They also seem keen to charge extra for every little thing, which feels kind of meh at those rates. The free laundry service was super convenient and much appreciated, since nothing ever really dries in this climate. The staff are very nice and attentive, and in a country where things are hard to organize reliably, they're 100% dependable. If they say they'll arrange something, it gets done without worries. I suppose I'd come back, but that reliability comes at a price.

The hospitality and service at Walindi made our stay special, on top of the world-class diving. We did three dives a day plus a night dive, and saw Spanish Dancer Nudi (giant nudi!), schools of Barracuda, Dolphins, Turtle, Sharks, Pipefish, Manta Shrimp, Crabs, Lionfish, and more. Our favorite sites were Bradford Shoal, Otto’s, and Hanging Gardens. Victor was a fantastic guide. Dive support was full-service, with the crew handling setup and cleaning dive supplies. There were nice towels after dives, free daily laundry, and a huge, varied lunch spread on board. My partner studied ecology, so Walindi connected us with its local PhD/researchers based on-site. They took us out on their board and showed us their research, which was a really unique experience. We had plenty of land activity options on our pre-flight no-dive day. We went on the volcano hike, a roughly 20 km bush-whack that was a bit tough but awesome, birdwatching, and a visit to Kimbe Town. There were great vegetarian meal options too. Bring bug spray for the mosquitos, though the resort sells some, and there's one air-conditioned common area to retreat to when needed. As Americans, we'd been a bit nervous about safety because of what we'd read about PNG. We felt safe and looked after the whole time. There are security gates, and many friendly, knowledgeable people from the area who act conservatively. Thanks, Walindi, for a memorable trip. We had a great time, will sing its praises, and can't wait to come back!

The first couple of days had limited vegan choices, but by our last night the team had stepped up and added three clearly marked vegan dishes to the menu. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout, and their willingness to improve made a real difference. Walindi Resort has beautiful surroundings, excellent diving, and a rich history that adds to its charm. The open spaces and comfortable rooms made for a relaxing visit. We'll definitely return for more of the hospitality and diving.

We had a relaxed, welcoming stay at Walindi Plantation Resort, with comfortable, well-maintained accommodation and lovely views of the bay and rainforest. Dining was good, with fresh local seafood and international dishes, and the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help with dive plans or anything else. Set on beautiful Kimbe Bay, the resort gives easy access to world-class reefs and rich marine life. A memorable choice in West New Britain for diving, snorkeling, or simply enjoying the tropical scenery.

Just got back from a week at Walindi Plantation Resort, and it was unreal. The bungalows were spotless and comfy, with fantastic water views. The food was simple, honest, and seriously tasty after a big day out. The diving was top-notch, some of the best we've ever done, and the volcano hike was bloody awesome. All the staff were legends, friendly and always looking out for us. Huge thanks to the dive crew for going above and beyond every day, and to Brian for being a champ of a guide, along with James and Miriam for putting up with our antics all week. If you're after epic dives, good vibes, and proper PNG hospitality, this is the place. Can't wait to come back!
