Reddoorz @ Recson Boracay Hostel

The room was filthy and in bad shape: one towel, an air-conditioner that shut off by itself, a broken door, and a disgustingly dirty floor. There was signal but no internet, and customer service was no help. We’d arrived 30 minutes before check-in after a long trip, exhausted and carrying heavy luggage, and politely asked to go in early. One staff member agreed, but another refused and kept citing “policy” despite our explanation. We finished checking out before noon, but there was no front-desk staff, so we waited until 1 PM while an overwhelmed security guard handled the guests’ complaints. By far the worst RedDoorz hotel we’ve booked through Agoda.

There wasn’t a 24-hour front desk, so outside certain hours it was impossible to get help. I booked at the last minute after work because pest control was being done in my apartment, but this stay was far from restful. There were lots of mosquitoes in the room, and no phone to call the lobby when I needed assistance. The TV and air conditioner had no remotes. The AC barely cooled the room, which was rough when I was tired and just wanted to rest.

We got sick, my girlfriend and I, because the aircon wasn’t cleaned. The place was dirty and unsanitary, with a cockroach coming under our door while we were awake. Most TVs didn’t work, so we had to move rooms, and the area was loud and heavily polluted. Sure, it’s cheap and not in the best area, but the hotel itself is bad.

Three rats were roaming around, and the place was so noisy I couldn’t sleep at night. The rooms are bad, and the receptionist was very rude. I’ve never encountered that kind of attitude. The cleaners were okay.
