The Blessed Purple Bamboo Beach Resort

We booked the family room, but the master bedroom’s air conditioner wasn’t cooling properly, the toilet was clogged and smelled nasty, and there were ants and insects on the bed. The shared toilets and showers were primitive, with only shower curtains for privacy. Maintenance took hours to come look, and nothing was fixed. Before we arrived, I called the woman who seemed to manage the rooms, and she reassured me about the resort. Once there, I told her the room was disappointing compared with how she’d described it. In the middle of the night, she said we could leave for another resort and get free entrance fees. Packing up and finding another place at that hour isn’t easy. I found that response very poor customer service. They discounted the room by 3,000 pesos, but the issue wasn’t the money. I’d rather pay full price for a comfortable stay than half and deal with this inconvenience. Amenities should be fixed before rooms are rented out. People travel from far away expecting to relax, not be disappointed. I don’t think photos are needed, since I’ve already seen a recent review with the same complaint.

The staff stood out as attentive, knowledgeable, and ready to help with requests or feedback. The restaurant food was tasty and reasonably priced. You need to order an hour ahead, but that means meals are freshly prepared. The resort is in a quiet part of Alaminos, with two large pools for adults and kids. The kiddie pool was especially fun, with slides and showers. The White House, their biggest room, was spacious and well kept, with a comfortable living area, large kitchen, and clean, roomy bathroom. Prices are reasonable. The beach needs regular cleaning, perhaps with more staff assigned to it. The grounds are large and seem fairly new, but construction on a big building and open areas without paving or grass make the place look unfinished, as if it’s waiting for more investment. The beach may not suit people looking for a wide sandy shore. Our room wasn’t ready until 3pm, despite the stated 2pm check-in. Kitchen utensils required a deposit and ID at the front office, which guests should be told ahead of time. There’s no room phone, so any request means going to the front office. A mobile number for calls or texts would make that easier. The place has potential, though the beach and ongoing construction need attention.

The staff were really nice and it’s a pleasant place. The shower and toilet by the beachfront could use improvement.

There’s about a kilometer of somewhat rough road, but following the signs gets you to a stunning resort that suits Western tastes. Adrian was a huge help and a really cool guy. The premium house lived up to its name, with a great restaurant downstairs and a coffee shop. You get access to views of 100 islands, and the staff speak good English. Just amazing, definitely book it.
