Sunrise Holiday Mansion

This resthouse has a strange, old-fashioned charm, and I found myself curious about its history. It feels like stepping back in time, though the spooky atmosphere won’t be for everyone. The building looked weather-beaten, with dated furnishings, faded pictures, peeling walls, dusty air, and a musty smell. The hallway was dim and the lights flickered. My sparse room had one bed, a small table, and an old CRT television; the sheets smelled musty too. With the creaky doors and sense of neglect, I kept feeling watched, and the place seemed almost empty.

The rooms have air conditioning, balconies, refrigerators, kitchenettes, and garden views. It’s also conveniently close to Caleruega Church, with Puzzle Mansion Bed & Breakfast and Splendido Golf Course only a short drive away.

I’m shocked this place has a 3-star rating. The furniture, wall paint, and air conditioning were all in bad shape, and basic things weren’t working, including the toilet flush and shower hot water. There were ants in my bed, then cockroaches when I got up to use the toilet in the middle of the night. After that I was too paranoid about what else might be crawling around to sleep. It was dirty, outdated, and uncomfortable. Calling reception didn’t help much either, the line was choppy and they couldn’t connect me easily to another room. I honestly couldn’t stand it. They should refund everyone, especially the timeshare members, and close the place. If I could leave no stars, or negative stars, I would. 🤦🏻‍♀️

There’s a peaceful view of grassy lots with cows grazing, and we rode out a typhoon without losing electricity. The rooms are dated and have no Wi-Fi, despite what’s advertised, and there’s no cable TV. The subdivision’s water-pump generator runs at least 6 hours a day, making noise and putting out diesel exhaust by the balcony. There are bathtubs and water heaters, which are welcome in the cool Tagaytay weather. A solid 3 stars.
