The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the room was clean enough. The facilities, though, were lacking. Our unit shared a toilet with two others, had no charging outlet or place to hang clothes, and the toilet had no window. At 1,200 per night for two, it didn't feel like good value. Towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo were provided, but we got slippers only on the first night. They could skip the disposable toiletries and put more into improving the facilities.

The family room, which we booked because no other room was available, was better than I expected and had two large beds. But it was right beside the living room or reception hall, so we often heard staff talking and making noise, both in the evening and in the morning after other guests had finished breakfast. The building doesn't block sound very well, and road noise may come through too. If the staff were better with customers, the stay could have been great.

It has a distinctive old-time feel, with old furniture and family photos, and the location is excellent. The hotel is charming and budget-friendly, and offers things like cable TV and toiletries that many three-star places don't. It used to be a museum. I'd strongly recommend it.

This is a 1950s house with 14 rooms and plenty of memorabilia from the 1950s through the 1970s, which gives it a fun nostalgic atmosphere. We had a problem with sewer water backing up through the shower drain in room 2, and the raw sewage smell made the room stink. Staff came but couldn't fix it, then promptly moved us to a better room. They were very friendly and courteous, and we'd stay here again.
