Golden Pine Hotel

We stayed for two nights, and the room was okay. The parking situation was the real problem. Since we were both women, convenience and feeling secure mattered to us. On our second night there was no space, so we were sent to park at another hotel a bit farther away. That wasn’t a great experience.

The room was large and clean, with hot and cold water, and the staff were welcoming and easy to approach. Golden Pine Hotel is also in a handy spot in the city, though it was being renovated during our stay. We booked two nights in an air-conditioned room through Agoda for Php7,510 during Holy Week, April 18-20, which felt like fair value for the price. I expected the included breakfast to be a buffet, but it was served plated. That was fine, the portions were generous and the food tasted good. We’ll be back soon. The staff were lovely and helpful, and the hotel is close to plenty of places to eat, with the Burnham Park night market just a few steps away. Our room was clean and comfortable, the bed was good, and everything worked, including the hot shower and steady Wi-Fi. It was a little noisy at night because we faced a small cluster of KTV and disco bars a few floors below. The room looked a bit shabby, and the superhero decorations on the walls felt odd, as they did in the restaurant and a few other areas. I’m also not keen on key entry rooms and would have liked a room safe, though neither is necessarily a deal breaker. For a couple of nights, the place was perfectly fine. We enjoyed Baguio’s cool weather, slower pace, and countryside, even if most tourist spots felt like photo stops.

The restaurant was the highlight for me. The food was delicious, portions were generous, prices were good, and the waiters and other staff were friendly. They also gave us useful advice about visiting the tourist spots and getting there easily. The location is great, very close to the city center. I’d return for lunch or dinner, but not to stay. Our room wasn’t cleaned each day, and I had to ask for fresh towels. There seemed to be plenty of people at reception but not many taking care of rooms. The water pressure was weak, and the toilet needed at least three flushes to clear.
