RedDoorz Hostel @ Baguio Tourist Cabin

That trip in late December was a nightmare. Baguio was so crowded we could barely move around the mall, and even finding somewhere to sit was hard. Taxis were nearly impossible to get. We’d have two or three people spread out trying to flag one down, then wait an hour. Some drivers wouldn’t use the meter and charged tourists 350P for a 150P trip. Hotels were full and charging triple, so this was one of the last rooms we could find. I could put up with the place for a day, but I wouldn’t want to stay there for 5-7 days. The hotel had no food or drinks. There’s a large open area outside with a view, and the city mountain view from the room was nice. The outdoor area was okay but could use updating. The room felt 10 years out of date, and the Wi-Fi was too old to work with new phones. The water heater was broken, and even after they fixed it, it still didn’t work right. I’m guessing they replaced it with another old, broken one. People had complained about that room and got the other room we were supposed to have, so they put us in the crappy broken one instead. The bathroom was tiny, the door was broken, and there was no sprayer. The kitchen was a disaster too. Cabinet and cupboard doors were broken or falling off, the wood underneath was destroyed, and tiles were coming off by the sink. The beds were very thin, with only one sheet on the mattress. I had to ask for blankets and then towels. Luckily, everything seemed clean, but I wouldn’t want to sleep on those beds for more than one night. There’s a 7-11 within walking distance, but without a taxi there isn’t much food nearby. This place could have potential if they put money into a major remodel, updated the outdoor area, replaced the 10-year-old Wi-Fi router, and added a bar and small restaurant or food store.

Avoid booking this place. Agoda showed inaccurate photos and pinned the wrong location. If you’re only looking for somewhere to leave your things while exploring Baguio, at least choose a place closer to the city center. The pin is incorrect. The caretakers weren’t doing their jobs properly. The rooms smelled moldy, and pests were visible. We weren’t allowed to use the kitchen, the fridge and rice cooker didn’t work, and the kettle seemed almost dangerous to use. The blanket smelled washed.

The photos on the website were misleading, and there was no sign above the door. We had to walk around trying different doors to find the place. There wasn’t a front desk, the shower water heater didn’t work, and there was no air-conditioning. We had to ask for blankets and towels. Don’t go to the location shown on Google, you can only find it by entering the address.

The place is dated, but it could be improved. We stayed there during Holy Week, and it was decent value if you just need somewhere to leave your things while spending the day in the City Proper or at the attractions. It’s far from the City Proper, so you need to take a Public Utility Vehicle. The street gets very dark at night, so bring a flashlight or use your phone light. We got an old unit with old furniture, a TV with free channels, and plastic utensils we didn’t use. There was no free soap or towel, and the water heater barely worked. Luckily we had a stove/gas stove to heat water. The running water kept stopping at night, so bathing always felt rushed. The things in their "convenient store" were too expensive, since there’s no store nearby.
