The atmosphere at The Manor at Camp John Hay was calm and well cared for, which made it easy to unwind after a long day. My room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The staff were professional, courteous, and genuinely kind, so I felt welcome throughout my relaxing stay. It exceeded my expectations, and I’d be glad to return. I recommend it for a peaceful visit with good service and comfort.

There’s plenty to see around here, but I’d be happy just relaxing on a bench or picnic table. It’s a nice place to chill. Check which tables are free before settling in, since some picnic tables cost 350-400 pesos.

The Christmas decorations were the best we’ve seen there, and Camp John Hay still feels very safe, with guards around. We like being able to jog, stroll, and relax among the pine trees and fresh air. But after staying at The Manor every year for about seven years, we’ve noticed service, food, and room amenities slipping. I had requested a higher-floor room for the garden view, one of the main reasons we choose the hotel, but at check-in we got key cards for a ground-floor room. The front desk staff seemed surprised when I raised it and asked if I’d really made that request. We were told all higher-floor rooms were booked, and we might be moved the next day. That was frustrating after noting the preference in advance. At Le Chef’s bar corner, we waited quite a while for service during merienda. Some staff seemed unmotivated and visibly annoyed while taking orders. The breakfast buffet has also shrunk, so its price is harder to justify than before. Hot water runs out after 11 PM, which makes a cold shower in 17°C Baguio weather especially uncomfortable for senior citizens. The setting remains relaxing and secure, but the decline has us reconsidering whether to stay again.

We went to the hotel restaurant for Christmas Light dining. The menu was extensive and tasty, at the prices you’d expect from a hotel, though the wine selection was very limited. The huge light displays throughout were amazing, the biggest I’ve ever seen. There were cute kittens around our feet, and the lobby, bar, and bakery were nice. I didn’t stay at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the accommodation.

The Christmas market garden was really picture-worthy, especially the gorgeous light show. We visited the week after Christmas, when walk-in entry cost 500PHP per person. Seniors could get a discount, but kids paid the full price. There were short stage performances, an open-air cinema, small rides for children, and food and refreshment stalls for outside visitors. Parking was hit and miss in the crowds, so we took a taxi. I think there’s now a bus loop in Camp John Hay, with a stop within walking distance of this hotel. It’s a good outing for families with kids. The hotel used to be called The Manors.
