Cococay Resort Hotel

The rooms are nice, but the pool was dirty, and it seemed like the water hadn't been changed in over a month. The water park area also had green mold-like growth. It didn't feel clean, and the service was poor too. It felt like they didn't want customers. We stayed here for my birthday.

The staff were courteous, but the facilities, especially in the two-storey building, need an upgrade and a facelift. Rain came through the ceiling, so we had to ask for the sheets to be changed.

The staff were friendly, courteous, and accommodating. I called around 9 pm the night before, and they answered, had rooms available, and patiently handled my questions even that late. That was lucky since places are usually full and hard to reach at that time. The location is convenient, just seconds off the main highway, but there isn't a shoreline, mostly rocks used to control the waves, so it's not ideal for swimming. The highway sign is faded and hard to spot; thankfully, the staff gave me a landmark and we followed GPS. The view is great, though there's no railing facing the waves. Our room neighbors were noisy, blasting karaoke and music, and I wish the facility would remind guests to be considerate of others. We booked two rooms: a family room for six at 4,500 pesos and a standard room for two at 2,200 pesos. The rooms had plenty of space, wardrobes, power outlets, and shelves, and the air conditioning worked. They weren't cleaned properly, since sand still stuck to your feet when walking barefoot. For the price, the amenities felt lacking: no hairdryer, and not enough shampoo and soap for six people. They did provide complimentary bottled water. The family room had only one pillow and towel per bed, which wasn't enough for six people. Extra pillows cost 100 pesos each and towels 50 pesos each, which felt absurd. The building and rooms are dated and need fixing or updating inside and out. The hot shower was available, but water pressure and temperature were inconsistent. It could get too hot or just right, even with the setting left steady. The regular pool is free to use, but breakfast wasn't included, and we didn't try the restaurant. The water park costs an extra 300 pesos per person.

I still remember how lovely it felt to hear the sea at night and wake up to a beautiful view of it in the morning. The good food made us happy, and having a swimming pool was another plus. The accommodations were great, and I'd recommend a visit. It's easy to get here from Baguio, since it isn't too far.
