The Boac Hotel

The breakfast was good, and the hotel is right by the cathedral, restaurants, plaza, and heritage district. Anyone interested in local heritage and culture would appreciate the setting. The service was disappointing. TBH didn't respond to my questions on FB Messenger, and on several occasions there was nobody at the front desk to help. The front desk officer on duty the night of November 15, 2025 was especially apathetic.

Downtown is a real plus, with everything close by and pasalubong available right at the hotel. Cafe Mamita's food selection is top-notch, too. The rooms could use repairs and maintenance, but our stays have always been great because the staff are so welcoming and accommodating. One of Boac's gems.

The staff are very helpful and respond quickly to calls, whether I have a question or need something. With Boac's frequent power outages, having a genset is another plus. There are some awkward parts of the building, though. The room is quite small, has no window, and offers very few hooks for clothes. The hallway carpet smells musty and needs cleaning. The stair treads are narrow and unevenly spaced, which I noticed made them hard for older guests to manage. Showering is awkward because the shower head sits oddly above the toilet bowl. Also, the house restaurant doesn't serve alcoholic drinks.

The staff were quite friendly, and the old house has a bit of atmosphere. But my room was so cramped it was hard to move around, and the bathroom smelled bad enough that I couldn't leave its door open. At least the room I had needs a complete renovation. At 1400 Peso a night, it costs far too much for this quality. 900 - 1000 would be fair, but no more.
