Jejsellends Garden Cottages

Getting here was difficult, especially with kids, older relatives, and heavy bags, since it’s far from the main road. The steep stairs felt dangerous, and the kitchen on the fourth floor was tiny, very hot, and poorly equipped. We were promised four bedrooms but got three cramped rooms with extra mattresses, and our request to keep the family in nearby rooms wasn’t followed. They were on separate floors. There was nowhere proper to eat, just one small table outside our room. There was no Wi-Fi or mobile signal inside, so we had to go outside the building to get reception. Toiletries weren’t provided unless we kept asking, and there wasn’t enough room to hang wet clothes or towels.

The beach is quite close, but the Wi-Fi was useless and the water pressure was weak. There were no hangers, few charger outlets, and some of the outlets were broken. They weren’t very accommodating, either. For a hotel, I expected toothbrushes, soap, and shampoo, but none were provided. It’s a cheap option if that’s what you’re after, though it comes with plenty of problems.

The hotel is only a few steps from White Beach and conveniently near D'mall. The staff were friendly and considerate, though there were many times when nobody was at reception. Rooms are basic and budget-friendly, with just linens and a towel; basic toiletries aren’t supplied. You can ask for a water heater. There’s cable TV and a shower, but no hot or cold settings and no towel rack in the bathroom. Kitchen use or paluto is available on request for a fee.

It’s affordable and close to the beach, but we had a broken TV screen and almost useless Wi-Fi on the third floor. The water pressure was so poor that at times nothing came out of the tap.
