Dotties Place Hotel and Restaurant

I booked because the hotel had a pool, but at 3 in the afternoon it was full of chemicals, so I couldn’t swim. I’d put my bag in the room and changed into my swimmers to cool off. I warned a young family who were about to get in, then searched for staff and eventually found someone to tell. They said the maintenance man had gone home at 2 pm. I explained the danger again at the front desk, but got nowhere. I changed and went back to ask for a refund. I’d been there for q.4 hours, mostly trying to find out why there were chemicals in the pool. The girls at reception were nice but couldn’t help. I left for another hotel, and I’m still seeking a refund. The room was small, smelled weird, and was very dated. I didn’t use the bed or shower. I can’t recommend this place because guest safety wasn’t considered, with chemicals in the pool in the afternoon and no warnings.

We booked two rooms for a vacation, and it was disappointing for the price. They were basic and underwhelming, with nothing that felt like a suite. The key card opens the doors, but they’re still hard to push. There’s no bathtub, the Wi-Fi is limited, the pillows feel like rocks, and there’s no refrigerator. It’s not the worst, but there’s nothing good enough to justify the cost. I’d recommend other hotels. Two stars for effort.

This was my second stay, and it’ll be my last. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable, but the pillows are so big I woke up with a bad neck. Don’t expect hot water in the shower. The old AC units work, but they’re too loud to sleep with on. There’s a nice pool and outdoor seating, and parking is easy for bikes. For cars, you might not be able to park because of the conference people. They boast a menu, but when I asked for an a la carte breakfast at 9.30, I was told I couldn’t order until 11.30 because they were too busy with conference clients. They prioritize those clients over private guests, so you’re treated like a second-class guest. It’s a shame, since the place has potential.

The location is good, and the 25m pool is great. The staff at Dotties Place are lovely and helpful, though the rooms and facilities need some upgrading. WiFi had some signal issues. Breakfast has a good selection for locals, but the buffet could offer more for tourists.
