Discovery Hotel and Restaurant

The building is old, but the front desk and other staff were welcoming, and the guards impressed me with how well they knew their duties. During check-in, though, I didn’t receive even basic complimentary items like soap and shampoo. There were two Bibles on the table in my room. I thought they might be a safety manual for guests, and seeing them in that old room made me feel a little creeped out. Still, it was a great stay overall.

There was a moldy smell in the room, and I think management should have it checked. The shower area in the restroom was badly rusted and needs maintenance. The place is cheap, but that doesn’t make these problems okay. I won’t be returning.

We stayed two nights because this hotel was closest to my appointment, and it was a pleasant stay. The place looked dated but tidy, and I think it had been repainted not long before we got there. The restroom was adequate, with free soap and shampoo, and the hot and cold water worked during our visit. We were given a double room with a bathtub on the first night because it was the only room available, then changed to a single room for the second night. The air conditioning worked well. The TV had a blue tint and the internet was intermittent at the time, but we weren’t big TV watchers so the screen didn’t matter much. There’s no elevator, and we didn’t get slippers or the complimentary breakfast. The location was perfect for us, close to CDO downtown’s main retail areas. The restaurant closes at 2 p.m. and had a sign saying it was under repair, so we never tried it. Eating wasn’t a problem with malls nearby. We’ll stay here again when we travel here in the future.

The rooms are old, but that’s alright. I tried a solo room, then asked for the standard one as soon as I saw the toilet had no flush and wasn’t well maintained. The family rooms are okay. There’s free Wi-Fi and hot and cold showers, but no free breakfast. You can order food at the restaurant. It’s easy to get to Limketkai and SM, but parking is limited, so book early if you need a spot. The security guard is kind and helpful.
