Chali Beach Resort and Conference Center

I come to Chali when I need a short break from the city's noise, and the recent renovations across most of the area have given it a more upscale feel. The service is still great. Food prices have gone up, which I can understand as they move toward being an upscale resort.

I hadn't been there for over a year, but came back wanting a good US steak. The place looked noticeably better when I arrived, with major improvements including a new restaurant, tres marias. The menu was good and the food was well prepared, as I mentioned in my separate review. It was already a nice spot to visit for food and drinks, and now it's much better. The overall look has gone from two stars to four for me.

Cali Resort in Cagayan was quiet, a nice escape from the crowds and a good place to relax and watch the sunset. My room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly, and the beach views were beautiful. Simple and peaceful, and well worth it.

I regret coming here. This was my worst resort experience, and I wouldn't return. Everything felt expensive, and we ended up having to pay for soft drinks we didn't know weren't free. The staff member who helped us seemed untrained. He showed us how to use the TV but didn't explain the mini fridge or the canned drinks inside, or say whether they were complimentary. We looked around for a price list or any sign saying they cost extra, but couldn't find one. In the end, we had to pay for them, and the price was expensive. Why put drinks in the mini fridge without making it clear they're not free? Even with the air-conditioning running, there were still mosquitoes. A big no for me. I missed out on having a good experience here, although I'm grateful I was happy during my stay.
