Rolet Hotel

Please be careful. At 3:00 AM, I was surprised by someone in my room who was a hotel employee, and I felt I was the target of a robbery attempt. He later denied being there and wouldn't turn on the camera recordings, saying they weren't working.

Rolet is still a solid budget choice, and none of its drawbacks are deal breakers for me. Its location can't be beat, the rooms feel safe and are clean, and the staff may be the nicest in town. That's a high bar. It seems to remain an AFAM favorite. The property appears not to have been upgraded in years. In every room I've stayed in, the bathroom floor tiles squish and ooze trapped water, as if they weren't installed properly. Bathroom water heaters work inconsistently, and sometimes the water pressure is like a leaky pipe. Towels and soap are provided sparingly, and the old monogrammed blankets and linens seem to date back to Rolet's founding. Apparently, Rolet was considered one of the nicer places in Catbalogan when there was less competition. Notable guests have left their mark in photos around the property.

The room was clean, and both the aircon and wifi worked well. Service was extremely good, and the central location is close to restaurants and essential services. I'll definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.

I stayed for three nights and found the place pretty nice and clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the wifi was good, and there was a nice balcony out front. It's handy being right in the middle of downtown, though this isn't the best town I've been to.
