Caliraya Ecoville Recreation and Farm Resort

It’s a secluded, quiet spot with a big hectare of lush greenery, great for nature lovers who want a retreat. I was lucky to have most of the place to myself. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and they even cleaned the pool for me. I also had a fun kayak adventure. Commuting there may be a bit challenging. I sincerely hope the owner considers renovating the hotel soon, since it’s old and needs work.

The place has a lot of potential, but our room’s heater was broken, and the water stopped running while we were using it. The bidet pressure was so low it couldn’t be used. The food was okay, though. They said breakfast starts at 7am, but it’s apparently best to order in advance. I placed my order at 7:06am and waited more than an hour because everyone else had ordered the night before. When I asked how early we could get breakfast, nobody told us the previous evening that advance orders were needed.

The room was old but otherwise okay, and the property has potential. Still, it needs major repairs and improvements, especially since it continues to bring in income. The main problem came early the next morning when our room lost power, including the CR, making it very difficult to get around. We reported it several times and waited about an hour for someone to check. They couldn’t fix it, so we moved to another room, which was old too. I booked a standard double room with aircon and a private CR a week ahead. On arrival, I was asked whether I knew I’d booked a kubo. That felt misleading because I’d clearly reserved a proper room. I insisted, and we got the correct room. There was another disappointment: no more free breakfast. Last year, when I booked through Agoda, breakfast was included even when we stayed in a kubo, though it wasn’t very good. They’ve removed it altogether, which made this stay feel less worthwhile. It was a letdown. Without better upkeep and service, this place feels like a missed opportunity.

The resort is very secluded and quiet, until a group of guests got bored and started drunk karaoke. The rooms are extremely worn and dilapidated, though at least the warm shower worked. There’s no Wi-Fi, and the room only has pre-selected movies. There isn’t much to do at the resort: I saw a pool, people fishing and people playing pool. You might be able to book other activities through the resort, but they take you somewhere outside it. The restaurant has limited food choices and closes at 8pm. There’s no room service, though for a small fee they can arrange to send food to your room. Don’t rely on the photos posted online; check the latest ones if you must. For some reason the main entrance is closed, so you have to enter through the exit. See the latest resort map photo.
