Porta Verde Resort Villas Caliraya

The lake views are lovely, and it’s a quiet place with a great atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay, even with all the rain while I was there. There’s a kitchen and running water, though the water had a smell. Electricity can go out, so bear that in mind. The location is remote, as expected, and there’s no food service of any kind, so come prepared. Security was good, but it could be better if someone were near the main gate when guests are around. It’s a beautiful spot and I’d definitely visit again. There’s still room for improvement.

Our honeymoon booking was cancelled just two days before the wedding, and it caused us so much stress and trouble. We had to urgently find another place at short notice. They said no rooms were available for our preferred dates and promised a refund and compensation, but offered no alternative plan. It’s now been four months since we cancelled, and despite our messages, calls, and follow-ups, we’ve received no update or help with the refund. We reported the matter to the barangay, but nothing has happened. This has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional, and at this point it feels like we may have been scammed. Please be careful when dealing with this resort.

Bring your own food, and be ready for a loud motorboat early in the morning. When we stayed a few months ago, one woke us before 6am despite us being in the farthest accommodation, the terraza. Apart from that, it’s a very peaceful, relaxing place with a great view.

The villas really do feel like a home away from home, with beautiful views all around. There’s no restaurant, but you can cook inside. The kitchen goes well beyond the basics: it has a water dispenser, rice cooker, toaster, stove, pans, and dining ware. There’s also a swimming pool and billiards, and all the staff were kind and helpful. ❤
