The room was comfortable enough for a short stay, and I appreciated the location and amenities. Staff were generally polite, though I wish they felt more approachable. The smiles sometimes seemed a bit forced, and I’d have liked more natural warmth. I enjoyed my stay at Marco Polo Cebu. The breakfast buffet had a good range and tasted great, but most dishes were a little cold. I hope they can improve the food temperature. Still a pleasant experience.

The staff handled a difficult moment really well during our first stay. On the second night, there was an earthquake while we were at the hotel. They responded quickly, kept everyone informed, and gave us water and blankets while we waited for clearance to return to the building. The hotel offered everyone affected a complimentary stay. I don’t know if others used theirs, but we did on our second visit, and I was genuinely impressed that they kept their word. That second stay was very good overall. My only issue was that our room didn’t have bath towels at first, and they arrived only after my third call. It was Christmas season, so I didn’t mind too much. They also accommodated my request for a slightly later check-out while we were still making our way back to the hotel. This review is long overdue, as this was our second time at Marco Polo. Before check-in, I usually call to coordinate a few things, and the front desk has always been attentive, so check-in has been smooth and hassle-free. JV helped with check-in and check-out on our first stay, and Yeda helped us on the second. Both were courteous, smiling, and easy to work with. It felt like dealing with colleagues rather than hotel staff. We stayed three nights in total, and the food was consistently very good. The fruit was fresh, and I especially enjoyed the puto sikwate. Breakfast service was pleasant and well managed. I can’t remember the name of the person who made my partner’s coffee, but thank you. I hope they offer promos and vouchers in the future.

The people are what keep us coming back to Marco Polo. They remember your name, where you like to sit, and what you like to drink. The staff are out of this world, and management should be kind to and reward them. All class. The hotel facilities are great, with quality materials that have helped it age gracefully. There’s an ATM inside, a great pool, a small smoking area, and laundry and local shops nearby. I hope next year’s renovations keep the charm, the friendly, casual staff, the spot-on hotel service, and the very good value. You can’t buy this level of service in the west.

I was really touched by the kindness of the staff, especially Ms."Kizia", who was so kind and wonderful. That’s why I’d come back to this hotel. Salamat po! The room is a bit old, and the quiet location can be both a plus and a minus. If you choose a premier room, though, you can get a renovated one.
