TR3ATS Guest House Cebu - Hostel

The pillows were disappointing, and there was major damage to the wall. The main door looked like a bathroom door. The room was extremely small, and I found a cockroach in the toilet. The air conditioning barely cooled the room. Google lists this as a two-star hotel, but it didn't feel like one.

We only stayed because it was late, this was the closest inn we could find, and my parents were exhausted from their trip to Cebu. I had checked the online reviews beforehand and hadn't seen bad comments, but the welcome we got was upsetting. The woman at the front desk wasn't welcoming at all, and I felt awful that my senior parents were treated that way. Honestly, the feeling was sickening. We checked in around 10, then left very early the next morning because we couldn't take it anymore. If my parents hadn't been so tired, we wouldn't have stayed. Please be kind to everyone at the front desk, not just certain customers. I also wouldn't recommend this place for anyone with senior citizens, since you have to climb a lot of stairs. It's probably okay for backpackers. The place itself was decent and the bathroom had just enough room to move around, but it wasn't worth the price.

The dorm was cramped and very small. It was clean enough, but didn't have everything I'd expect from a nice hostel. Still, it works for a night or two if you don't mind staying a bit away from the action.

The hostel is only a year old and clean, which is about all it has going for it. Wi-Fi is limited to the common area and becomes too slow to use when more than two people are online. The only regular plug socket is behind the TV, and all the Western channels come in fuzzy. There's no DVD player, and I wasn't allowed to use the USB port to play a movie because staff said the TV might get a virus. It wasn't even a smart TV. The common room has a two-seater sofa and two footstools. Ninos bar is about 20 feet away. Beer was cheaper there than at the hostel, and bike rental cost 100pp less. The hostel also demands money if the petrol tank isn't exactly as full as before. Staff entered our room at 8:30am, saw people sleeping, and still talked loudly until another guest told her to be quiet. On the first night, around 11pm, someone came into our room with the lights off just to get my email address and nearly woke my friend. Each time you buy an overpriced bottle of water, you're asked to sign a blank receipt. Terribly run, with the feeling they're trying to get as much money as possible from guests.
