Amparo's Tourist Inn

The rooms were about as clean as you’d expect at a budget hotel, with a few ants around, though that wasn’t a big deal. The communal showers and the one in the private room both had great pressure. The staff were amazing, helping us sort out airport transport and fit in an extra night after we messed up our flights. I’d recommend staying here and would come back! Salamat ☺️

The room was dark and murky, and the tiny window wouldn’t close. It was next to reception and so loud that earplugs didn’t help. I kept waking up to the receptionist watching TikToks, guests coming and going, and then a water pump outside starting at 4:30AM and running for about an hour. The room wasn’t clean either. The previous guest’s trash was still there, and there were insects in the bed, from ants to spiders. No toilet paper in the restroom, and only cold water for a shower. Awful customer service. I asked to change rooms for my second night or get a refund, but they refused both, even though there was a sign in the room saying room changes could be requested. I booked somewhere else for my last night. This was not a usual hostel stay, and I can’t recommend it. They seemed to care more about money than guests’ wellbeing. Spend your money somewhere they don’t treat you like a dog.

The room’s damp problem was severe. The mattresses and pillows were moldy, and on my second night my asthma started getting worse. I checked my pillow and found thick black mold. The staff kindly replaced it when I asked, but the new one still had mold in the morning, though not as much. The rest of the bedding was the same. I asked for a refund and explained that I was moving because the room was making me sick. They told me to contact Agoda. Agoda acted quickly to try to get a refund, but the property REFUSED. I’ve stayed in many places in similar climates and never had this issue. In its current condition, the property shouldn’t be rented to guests. I’d picked the place because of its location near a restaurant where I wanted to try a few dishes. I wasn’t going to leave a review because the family were friendly, but refusing the refund showed me they put Profit first and don’t care about guests. The bad chest ruined the last few days of my trip. I lost half a day checking out and into a new property, which was great, and had to pay 300php to wash all my belongings because they were damp and musty, even though I’d washed them just a few days earlier.

The family who owns Amparo’s Tourist Inn are so sweet. We were last minute booking a taxi to the airport, and they figured out how to sort it all out as if it were their own problem. Such kind people! Our stay was amazing too, the place wasn’t crowded or in an overly noisy area. A good budget option for backpackers. 🫶🏼🫶🏼
