That pier at the back was a lovely place to end the day. You can get food and cocktails there while watching the sunset, and the atmosphere is really peaceful. The spa was another highlight for us. The staff were kind and professional, and we had excellent massages every day. There are three restaurant options, and the hotel is good value for the price. It’s a short 5-7 minute tuk-tuk ride into downtown Coron, so you get some space from the busy center without being far from town. Just be prepared for possible noise from nearby neighbors. People also burn trash around 5:00 PM each day, and the smoke and smell can reach some rooms, especially those near the residential area.

Kaigan Japanese Restaurant was one of the best parts of our stay. The food was excellent, and the staff there were warm and attentive. We also had a fantastic island-hopping trip arranged through JY Travel and Tours, with a generous, delicious lunch prepared by the resort. Little touches like the fire dance and outdoor movie added to the atmosphere, and the Serene Pier Bar was lovely at sunset. After we ran into problems, we were offered a complimentary hour massage at the clean, pleasant Alon Spa. The grounds are spacious, green, and well kept, with a pool overlooking the gardens. It’s a beautiful property with real potential for a relaxing getaway, but our several-night stay was inconsistent. For much of the visit, our room had a leaking shower floor, dust from renovations coming in, and an air conditioner that leaked indoors. The pool water was often cloudy and didn’t look well maintained. Service at Amihan Restaurant varied. Some staff were attentive, but one employee, L**, was unfriendly to me on several occasions and didn’t greet or acknowledge me. I felt uncomfortable each time I went in. My husband and I got food poisoning, which we suspect came from the breakfast buffet. We also ordered two pieces of pandesal one night, and they were stale and hard. We reported the problems daily, but the resort didn’t move us to another room until the eighth night of our 11-night stay. That was disappointing customer service. With better maintenance and more staff training and supervision, this place could be really good.

The staff were amazing, and coming back to a cool, clean room with sweet snacks was a lovely touch. We had a truly relaxing stay at Bacau Bay Resort, from check-in through check-out. The breakfast buffet offered a good range each day, and we especially liked ending the evening at the Sunset Bar. The cocktails and massage were excellent too. The weak point was connectivity: cellular signal and Wi-Fi were poor, particularly in our room.

Watching the sunset from the dock during happy hour was a highlight, and the resort itself is absolutely beautiful. I did wish there were a beach, and the pool could have been cleaner. The food was just okay overall, below the standard we found at other resorts in the Philipines. Excursions cost much less to book in town than through the resort. I also didn’t think it was cool that they make you rent a beach towel to take off the property for excursions.
