Seafront Bay Inn

We left as soon as we saw the room and didn’t even try to get back what we’d paid for three nights. Bugs and ants were all over the floor, with dead ones on the pillows and blankets. The stairs were so steep we had to go up sideways, and the rooms were divided by what was basically a sliding closet door, so you could see into the next person’s room. We spent one night at sunlight hotel, then a few nights at Bella Villa, which I’d highly recommend.

We stayed five nights, but the room and bathroom weren’t serviced, the sheets weren’t changed even after I asked, the soap ran out, and I had to ask four times for toilet paper. There was no hand towel. After three nights without aircon because of power outages, there was no generator like other local accommodations seemed to have. When I messaged the owner Jaycee about our concerns, he ignored me. There were a few positives: the view was nice, breakfast was yummy, and some staff seemed willing to help. But I’d tell people to choose a backpackers place and save their money. The "private bathroom" advertised was actually shared in the living area. After we asked about it, they apologized and made another room available, but it was in staff quarters, with windows right against a fence and an air-conditioner so loud we chose the room with working windows instead. They charged us 1800php each for a tour when everyone else paid 1500php. The desk first denied the overcharge, then returned 400php, not the full 600 owed. The door lock had a missing screw from day one, making it hard to lock; the front desk said it would be fixed, but it never was. The walls were so thin we could hear every word and noise from rooms around and above us, and light came through them. We’re both shift workers, and even though I thought I could sleep through anything, I couldn’t handle it. This was the worst Airbnb we’ve stayed in, and I’m not sure how it has such amazing reviews.

The whole family works at this very friendly hotel, and everyone does their best. Our room was nice and breakfast was good too. The hotel isn’t just near the sea, it’s right on it. Really cool.

We spent a week here and it was a beautiful, memorable experience. Highly recommend it!
