Kokays Maldito Dive Resort

The diving with thresher sharks was incredible, and I wish I could’ve stayed another week. The rooms were great, the staff were very friendly, and the food was awesome. Best dive resort on all of Malapascua island!

We came for a five-day, four-night dive trip to see Thresher Shark, and we did. Two circled around us and came so close. Our dive guide Elvin was great and helped us find so many things. He was patient while we took lots of time taking photos. All the crew were friendly and very helpful on every dive. Highly recommended!

Diving with Kokay’s was an amazing experience. The service was top notch, and DM Jayky and DMT Nur made sure our dives were safe and super fun. Would highly recommend.

The beach in front of Kokay was my favorite, kept tidy by staff who raked the sand and picked up rubbish twice a day. It was also a lovely place to watch the sunset. Getting there was easy: we booked a private transfer from Cebu city, and the two of us got a whole 9 seater van. We also had the boat to ourselves, which felt like a real privilege. It dropped us right on the beach, then it was just a one-minute walk to our room. Our room was probably as good as you can get on Malapasuca. I appreciated the small touches, especially the dispenser with hot and chilled water and the big bottle of fresh water in the shower for rinsing off afterward. Having the restaurant on site was especially handy for lunch after diving, when the heat made walking anywhere unappealing. It stays open all day, so we even ate lunch at 3pm once. There’s also a free pool table for guests and an on-site spa with very little wait. The island’s power does go out sometimes, but it was back in under a minute each time we saw it happen. There’s an ATM on site, though withdrawals cost 300PHP. Card payments have a 3% surcharge, which is fairly low compared with the 10% some other places charge.
