The rooms are roomy and we had a great stay, though the furniture is old and there’s no elevator. It’s in Daraga, Albay, right beside Bicol University and roughly opposite Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center. Reception is up a side staircase on the second floor. There are about three floors of rooms, I think, with a function hall and kitchen on the top floor. From up there, the fire exit stairs give you a partly obstructed view of Mayon Volcano.

The air conditioning was a welcome relief from the heat, and the complimentary breakfast was pretty good compared with other hotels. Our first room was tiny, had no shower water heater, ants all over, a really dirty bathroom, and a bed that sat crooked against the wall. After we complained about the lack of hot water, they moved us one floor up to a noticeably better room with working facilities, a better TV, and a few more outlets for charging. It felt like they’d given us the cheaper rooms first. Pretty shady.

The TV is old and so blurry that watching it isn’t enjoyable. There’s fast internet, but you have to leave your room to use it. The place is right along the road, with a mall, market, and church easy to get to. Hot and cold water are available.

Quiet despite being right in the city center, and the place is very clean and well kept. It’s a small hotel, with a cheap stay and breakfast included. Having a car is probably best. I’ll come back next time I’m in Bicol.

The heater was broken, but they got back to us quickly and moved us into another room. Apart from a few issues like that, the hotel was okay.
