Diving seems to be one of the resort's strengths and may be why many guests stay here. For guests who want a relaxing visit, though, the internet, room amenities, noise, and customer service all need work. We booked two rooms for three days and two nights, partly because the resort is near Descansa, where we usually eat, and because we wanted to enjoy Dauin's clear beach. They let us check in shortly after 12 PM, which we appreciated. The rooms looked cozy, with effective air conditioning, a large fan, a spacious toilet and bath, a water heater, a pitcher, glasses, and coffee. There was no refrigerator for keeping drinks cold. That night we found there was just one very thin blanket for two people. Sharing wasn't an issue, but it was too thin for an air-conditioned room, so we had to adjust the AC in the middle of the night when it got too cold. The restaurant food was okay, though service could improve. Some staff were friendly, others not very welcoming. One evening they didn't bring dinner plates, so we ate from small rice plates until we asked for proper ones. Around 2 AM on the second night, we woke to a smoky smell, possibly from leaves burning nearby. At first we worried there could be a fire. Then at about 6 AM, staff cleaning outside woke us with loud talking, and the noise continued through the morning, making it hard to get more rest. There was no working internet for our whole stay. We told staff on the first day and they said they were having problems too. Since we'd already paid for the booking, we had little choice but to use mobile data and share a hotspot. We were also surprised that basic toiletries like toothpaste weren't provided. We brought our own toothbrushes but expected at least some basic toiletries. The second-floor sliding doors were awkward to lock. You have to use a key from inside or outside, and locking from inside took effort because everything needed to line up. At checkout I went to reception to pay and said we were leaving. The receptionist just said, “Naa sa bar inyong bill” (“Your bill is at the bar”). I was confused because I expected to pay at reception. After I repeated myself twice, she got up and brought the final bill herself.

I stayed for a week in March and it was great. The rooms were good and the food was okay, but the dive shop was amazing. The Dive Masters knew everything underwater, took safety seriously, and knew all the Divers by name. It was nice diving with a small shop that was so Professional. Everyone at the resort knew me by name and always had a friendly smile. It was an affordable, great place to stay in the Philippines. Thanks for everything, Mike.

DO IT! YOU’LL REGRET IT IF YOU DON’T Mike’s was great all around. I was comfortable in the room, enjoyed the Filipino food, and the staff were great. The diving was top-notch too. Most of my dives were with Gabby, and the rest were led by Michael. Gabby is an absolute professional, the best I've been with in the Philippines. Michael knows the area well and is someone I could hang out with if I lived there. I'll always visit Mike’s when I'm in the Philippines. Thankfully, my very young Filipino wife has family there and we visit a lot. Just kidding… she’s old 🤣🤘🏻

We stayed at Mike’s for a week, and by the end I didn't want to leave. The resort is very well managed and maintained, the diving is fab, and the staff were exceptional. Hope I can come back another time. Thanks for such a great stay.

After 13 years away, I came back and it was still amazing. The rooms were clean, the food was good, the shared areas were well kept, and service was friendly. The owner is involved every day and makes sure guests are happy. The dive masters are the best I've been diving with. They find local underwater critters like nowhere else.
