Avenue One Hotel

The bed was comfortable and breakfast was good, but the café’s exhaust blew into the room in the morning, making it unpleasant. I’d avoid the Roxas and Harrison rooms if you don’t want to feel like smoked barbecue. For the rate, I expected more.

The service is warm and very good, and the location is great, very close to Digos CBD. The rooms are huge for the price, and the bathrooms are spacious too. They provide coffee and tea packets, water, cups and plates, plus a TV, towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and refillable water.

I love the rooms, especially the toilet. It’s huge, like something you’d find in a luxury hotel. There’s also a 24/7 water machine dispensing hot or cold water, and the water is very high quality.

The cafe was the best part for me. It has a nice atmosphere to work in, the coffee tastes like coffee and isn’t too sweet, and breakfast was included. There were only three breakfast choices, but the food was nice, and the staff were friendly. The room itself was a letdown because it wasn’t clean enough. The interior looked pretty, and I liked the idea behind the room names, but there was visible mold all over the bathroom walls and under the toilet. The bathroom was spacious, and the bidet and heated shower worked. I didn’t check my own pillow, but a coworker in another room said hers had mold too. We stayed one night because it was close to our site, in a family room for three with a bunk bed, double below and single above. I was too tired to take a room photo, but the room matched what they advertised. The mattresses were thick, though the blankets were thin. The ladder to the top bunk felt risky because it lay flat against the bed frame. You can’t see it from up there when you’re ready to climb down, so doing that when sleepy felt unsafe. The twin-bed rooms had reasonably sized single beds, but only one light bulb, so they weren’t suitable for working in the room. The air conditioner was a box type, and it took a while to cool the room. I didn’t manage to photograph the room, only the cafe.
