Jeamco Royal Hotel - Baybay

We booked the same room for two nights through Klook, as separate bookings. The area was still without power while clearing work was underway, and the staff told us their generator wasn’t working. The room was spacious enough, and all three beds were comfortable. The aircon worked well, and the beds were clean apart from some stains on the sheets. It was quiet, and the location was convenient for the terminal, large supermarkets, wet market, and fast food restaurants. There were several hassles: the shower leaked and couldn’t be adjusted properly, and there was no balde or tabo. No towels were left for us; they said they’d bring some the next day, but none arrived. We also had to ask for water so we could bathe. Even though we booked two nights, the room wasn’t cleaned or even swept in between, and there was no tambo. The room felt pricey for the experience, but at least we got the sleep we needed.

The stairs up to the hotel rooms on the third floor are steep, so this may not work well for elderly guests. Otherwise, it’s a practical, affordable choice, especially for a group. The central location puts you near the church, port, PUV terminal, wet market, and supermarkets.

There were mosquitoes inside the room, and the aircon was so noisy we couldn’t rest. The door locks also didn’t feel secure. Sorry, owner, but you need to look after guests and give room cleanliness and maintenance more attention.

May 2024. I came to visit close friends who feel like extended family. The location was handy for the terminal and market, and there’s a Novo store by the stairs up to reception. Parking is limited, and it wasn’t clear where customers could park for free. I booked on Agoda and chose a twin bed, then found out from staff that it costs extra. For reference, they also offer walk-in stays of 12 hours from ₱1,000, which is a good deal. The receptionist was okay, and the guard showed me to the room. We checked for breakfast early the next morning, but the only option was spicy cup noodles. Foodpanda showed just Jollibee, the only fast food place open then. More choices would’ve been nice for lazy people like us. It was also very bright and hot. The flat-screen TV was karat, with Chinese labels on both it and the remote, and the channel list was out of date. Watch out with the hot shower, it gets too hot after a few seconds unless you’re tall enough to reach the heater above the shower head.
