Dancalan Beach Resort

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and each evening they gave me a flask of hot water so I could make coffee before diving early in the morning. They also arranged an airport transfer for much less than the price quoted at the airport. The food was super cheap, and I ate at the hotel every night. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. It's in a great spot, right on the beach opposite the dive shop and whale shark encounter, with beautiful sunsets every evening.

The room had a strong musty smell when we opened the door. None of the power outlets worked, so we couldn't charge our phones. There was no drinking water or soap, and the toilet wouldn't flush. The AC was installed, but it was so loud we couldn't sleep with it on and had to switch it off. A ceiling light also flickered all night, which made it even harder to rest. The conditions didn't meet even basic expectations.

The staff are really friendly, and the food is good. Rooms are simple but clean, with good water pressure and a hot shower. WiFi in the rooms is unreliable, though it works okay if you sit on the porch. The beach is a little rough, but they're renovating it. Fair value for the money.

The resort was clean, and the water was so clear. There are lots of good places to camp. I just wish there were more CRs near the kubo and a steady water supply at the wash area.
