Alexzus Backpacker Travel Lodge

After more than six months traveling around Southeast Asia, this was the dirtiest, worst room I've stayed in. It reeked of cigarettes, the room was filthy, several amenities were broken or didn't work, and the walls looked moldy. There were cockroaches and bedbugs too. Staff were unprofessional and wouldn't answer questions, just staring at their phones. I wouldn't stay here even if they paid me. Whatever the online price is, it's not worth it.

The staff were really friendly, though they don't explain much. I didn't know tours could be booked there or that water and coffee were free, and that would've been useful to know. We arrived around 4 or 5 and our rooms weren't ready, so we waited with three other people, which felt a bit odd. For the price, the place is fairly good and about what we're used to in The Philippines. The bathroom wasn't as bad as some reviews say, though maybe we're used to bad bathrooms. And complaining about no shampoo at a cheap place seems silly, you almost never get that at this price. Go somewhere more expensive :p

We were glad to have somewhere to sleep since the town was completely booked, and the location was good. The front desk staff were friendly, the pillow was good, the AC worked and helped somewhat with the smell, and there were no bed bugs. But the bathroom was pretty terrifying: it smelled of sewage and cigarettes, the sink drained onto the floor, and the toilet seat was cracked and broken.

The power went out, leaving us without AC, water, or wifi. The shower and sink water smelled swampy and looked disgusting, and the room had bedbugs and cockroaches. I asked reception for a refund for the following day, but she refused because I'd booked through agoda. She was rude and offered no solution. This was the worst experience of my whole trip. Don't stay here for any reason.
