The staff were helpful and friendly, and check-in was easy. There’s also a small restaurant in the lobby. Amos Pili Tree Inn is a handy five-minute walk from the night market and the main shopping and restaurant area in El Nido town. For a budget place in such a remote destination, it was better than I expected. The room was a reasonable size with a private bathroom and hot water. There’s a main road outside, but the traffic noise didn’t bother me. I had no problems during my stay and would recommend the place and stay again.

The room we eventually moved to was a little bigger, but it still had the same noisy air conditioner. We paid an extra 2400 pesos to move from the basement room after staff offered us a deluxe. Later we found out it was actually a Standard room, with a surcharge of only 600 pesos. At checkout, they still demanded the deluxe rate. It wasn’t a lot of money, but feeling deceived made an already bad stay worse. We’d booked a budget room on Booking. It was only $7 a night cheaper than the deluxe, and the photos made it look just a bit smaller. In reality, they put us in a windowless basement room half the size of the deluxe, though the description never mentioned that. The AC sounded like an engine and smelled like sewage, so sleeping without earplugs was impossible. The shower pressure was very weak and erratic, and hardly any water came from the sink, making it difficult to wash. The staff seemed barely interested in our comfort until we made a scene. If you have to book here, choose a deluxe room. Those seemed at least reasonably decent, with normal air conditioning.

We only needed a room for the night while touring near town, and this budget inn did the job. It’s close to town, though it sits on a highway, so keep your expectations in check. The rooms could use renovation. The receptionists were accommodating, and there was free coffee and water. The microwave needs an outlet, so that’s one thing to fix. We also liked the friendly dog inside the inn, though it could use a bath since it loves mopping the floor in exchange for belly rubs.

Our belongings were packed by the staff without asking, because they said another guest was arriving. We’d paid in full and on time, but were made to feel as if we were being pushed out. That was disrespectful and completely unacceptable. The AC was so noisy it was impossible to rest, and the water pressure was very weak. I give this hotel one star and can’t recommend it. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in El Nido.

The one positive was the location, and they let us leave our things. Otherwise, this was the most disgusting place we stayed during our Philippines trip, which ended with this hotel on our honeymoon. We had to find somewhere urgently for one night and paid $50 for terrible conditions. The Google rating of 3.8 felt completely justified, and the low-rated reviews were true. We were put in basement room B2. The windows were blocked by a fence, and there was a musty smell as soon as we entered. The bathroom walls had black mold. After we went out for the day and returned late, the room smelled strongly of feces. Every room was occupied, so the administrator said nothing could be done. The AC was so loud that sleeping was impossible. The toilet had black mold, the walls were dilapidated, and the gaps under the doors were 2 cm. I had to stuff toilet paper into them just to dull the neighbors’ noise. I can’t understand how they offer a room like this for $50 or how anyone could put children here. I’ll never recommend this hotel to anyone. A solid 0 out of 10.
