We couldn’t reach the property because the ongoing war in the Gulf affected our flight. I explained what happened and asked if they could understand our situation and offer at least a partial refund for a booking we couldn’t use. The response showed no empathy at all. I’ve never seen such an approach to guests facing difficulties. We hope to return to the Philippines, but we won’t book here again or recommend it. To respond to the message below: booking.com refunded me and said the refund came from them, not from you. I messaged you several times offering to accept a refund, a partial refund, or a change of dates for the future, but you refused each request. Those messages are all in my booking record, so you can check them. I know I need to read cancellation policies, and I always do, but I couldn’t predict that a war would start after I planned my holiday and stop me from flying there. You could have spoken to me kindly and reasonably. For weeks, all I got was, “no, you must accept our hotel policy.” If the refund really came from you, you could simply have said that in the chat. You never did.

We had a great stay. The room was clean, the view was good, and breakfast was good too. It’s an easy 10-15 minute walk to the city center, so there’s no need to take a tuk-tuk. It felt safe.

I paid quite a lot upfront for this hotel, but getting there from Coron became impossible when the ferry was delayed by several days. Flying instead would have been extremely expensive and complicated. I asked if they could refund at least some of the payment since the disruption wasn’t anyone’s fault. They basically said they had my money and I could do whatever I wanted, with no refund of any kind.

We loved our stay and would come back if we return to El Nido. It’s not far from town, and tuk-tuks are available if you need one. We had lots of rain while we were there, but I love tropical rain, and I even enjoyed the trip in from town, though some people may not. The staff helped arrange anything we wanted, and the service was amazing.
