Cuna Hotel

Don’t spend your money at this hotel. The room was at 82% humidity, and it kept getting more humid as the hours passed. Everything smelled damp. The AC was set to 27 degrees but made the room feel like it was 15. We went to the pool and asked for towels. The attendant went to get them, but still hadn’t come back 20 minutes later, so we returned to our room soaking wet. They also asked us for a 3000 PHP deposit that hadn’t been mentioned in the booking. There was no minibar or refrigerator. No visible mold, but the damp smell was everywhere.

Cuna was better than I expected. Our deluxe king room was spacious, the beds were comfy, and the shower had good pressure. The AC was nice and cold, and the staff were pleasant. You’re close enough to the bustle without being on the main street. Highly recommend!

I slept well because the beds and pillows were really comfortable. The room was dry too, and the dehumidifier worked well. I didn’t find the lack of sunlight in the room to be a problem. Other things need work. Wi-Fi didn’t work at all in the room, which was frustrating when we were paying for it. Hot water was hit or miss, sometimes warm one day, then cold the next. The toilet seat was clean but old and stained, and there was mold behind the sink. The pool water had an oily film floating across it, so I avoided swimming. It looked like the filtration wasn’t working well, and I didn’t want to risk catching anything. This hotel needs improvements, especially room Wi-Fi and a better pump to get hot water to the rooms.

The reception team were really friendly and helpful, and we appreciated that. The restaurant staff didn’t match that level, though, and weren’t especially attentive or service-minded. Wi-Fi was only available at reception, not in our room. Our budget room was clean and fresh, with a reasonable level of comfort. The location was excellent, and the breakfast view was lovely. Breakfast itself was nothing special, but fine if you’re okay with a limited selection. For the price and location, it was an okay stay, though there’s room for improvement.
