My friend was visiting Southeast Asia for the first time and said this place felt like home. I first stayed here before the pandemic, then came back years later with him. We were welcomed warmly even though we arrived after the usual check-in time, and the service was a big part of what made the stay special. Gwen at reception deserves a mention: she's local, incredibly helpful with questions and recommendations, and made the place feel personal. You can book island tours through the hotel, with pickup right outside. They also arranged an in-room massage through an external company, which was great after exploring El Nido. It's beachfront and about a 10-minute drive from town, away from the noisy party area. Motorbike rentals make it easy to get around, and I'd rather stay here and save money than overpay in town. The hotel isn't fancy, but the rooms are functional and comfortable, cold drinks are for sale, and breakfast is included with Western and local options. If you want comfort, convenience, good service and value without unnecessary luxury, this place delivers. 10/10.

Gwen and the other holes workers were fantastic hosts, friendly and helpful. Gwen explained the room cleaning process when we arrived, and our room was clean. Breakfast was a lovely start to the day. Desert Rose has what you need in a quieter part of El Nido, right on the beach, with bars a short walk away and El Nido a short tuktuk ride away.

A good choice for a lowkey El Nido trip. The room had amazing views and good AC, while the amenities and breakfast were basic. Staff hospitality was amazing, and they were super helpful arranging tours. The location is good for the city, though getting a tricycle means walking up a large, steep hill. Would recommend.

Gwen, the service head, was the hotel's one real extra star. Whatever I needed, he arranged for a reasonable price, and breakfast was tasty and served as requested. The location is quiet and gives access to local “Hop islands” travels. Still, I expected a higher standard for what I paid. The hotel feels relatively old-fashioned, with shabby equipment, and there was no cleaning for four days. Compared with places at the same price level where I stayed in Palawan, it fell short.

Gwen was an awesome host and made the stay even more enjoyable. The beach is very close, with a stunning view for the price, and the location is excellent. Town is a quick 5-10 minute drive away, easily reached for around 100 pesos. Amazing stay and excellent value for money at Desert Rose Hotel!
