Sunlit Hostel

The hostel was peaceful, with quiet hours that made it easy to rest. The property was spotless, including the pool, and the kitchen was clean, relaxing, and simple to use. Rooms were comfortable, well cared for, and very clean, with excellent bathroom facilities and a great shower. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and ready to help, which made the stay even better. Sunlit Hostel Siargao had a welcoming feel and good service. I’d gladly stay again, and highly recommend it for a visit to the island.

The upstairs pool table and mini bar kept me hanging around for hours, and the Wi-Fi was good. The pool was great, and they put on activities most days of the week. It felt very family-like, with really friendly staff. The bedrooms were fine and the bed was comfortable, though it could feel a bit cold sometimes. You can rent a bike there, and there’s a nice breakfast place right across from the hostel. Best hostel in Siargao for me.

I had to leave three days early after my flight was cancelled and rescheduled, but they wouldn’t offer any refund. I understand there’s a policy, but it felt like bad business, especially since other hostels nearby treat guests differently. The whole place felt transactional, with workers focused on selling things instead of helping create a welcoming atmosphere. I bought a beer and they wouldn’t make change, pressuring me to buy more so they wouldn’t have to give money back. Compared with places that go out of their way to make guests comfortable, this was the bare minimum. I’d avoid it. I hear Happiness hostel down the road is very nice. The value was poor, and Justin made me uncomfortable with creepy behavior. Service was disappointing compared with other hostels in the Philippines. Bathrooms were dirty and smelled of mold and urinal cakes, and the rooms had an unpleasant musty smell. They require a 1k peso deposit for scooter rentals, but the scooters were in rough shape and seemed like accidents waiting to happen. I’d rent elsewhere. They also seemed sneaky about trying to keep other guests’ deposits.

We spent two weeks in a private room and had an unforgettable time. The atmosphere was lovely, and Leister is one of the kindest people you could meet, always ready to help or have a laugh with you. Best hostel in siargao, strongly recommend!
