Yellow Banana Siargao

The neighborhood was really quiet, and for what we paid it was well worth it. The staff welcomed us warmly, even though I didn’t have my reservation details with me. I stayed with my wife and kids, ages 6-8. Hot water was okay in the private rooms, though apparently the dorms don’t have it.

The room was the grossest I’ve come across in the Philippines, or anywhere in my past year of traveling. It smelled strongly of cat pee, and the shower was dirty and didn’t work properly. I arrived at 2 pm, right at the start of check-in, after booking the night before. As soon as I saw the room, I came back out to ask about changing or canceling, but staff insisted I pay cash for both nights, even though I’d booked only 15 hours earlier and immediately asked to cancel because of the condition. I said I wasn’t going to stay, but they kept demanding payment. I’ve never encountered such a backward, unaccommodating response in all my travels. After a few calls to management and their marketing team, they finally let me leave. The issue was eventually resolved, but the whole thing left a bad taste and a negative impression of the establishment. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Yellow Banana gave me some unforgettable memories. Jared, Jhaycee, and Janice are wonderful people, and I hope to see them again soon. The place has a real family feel, so you feel at home right away, with shared dinners, games, music, and smiles everywhere. The staff made my holiday feel perfect. A huge thank you to them.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, but dorm showers had no hot water, and the Wi-Fi wasn’t great if that matters to you. The place itself is nice, though poorly organized. They got our bookings wrong three times in one week, apparently because of double bookings across different websites. My friend didn’t get the room they’d booked, both initially and after extending. When I extended, they failed to note it and removed all my things from my bunk while I was out, giving it to someone else. That was incredibly frustrating. They wanted me to move into a room with more beds, even though I’d booked and paid more for my room. I insisted and stayed in it. Looking at the reviews now, I see this is a repeated problem. Each time they told us there’d been a glitch, but after a point it was just too much.
