Hotel San Marco

Right in the city center, Hotel San Marco is handy for downtown, SM Gensan, restaurants, and cafes, and I found it good value for the price. The Mediterranean-style exterior has charm, and my Twin Room was clean with enough space for luggage. Friendly staff, Wi-Fi, an elevator, limited parking, and a bidet were useful. There were some drawbacks: the sheets are thin, with a duvet costing ₱300 and an extra blanket ₱100. Toiletries are basic, the paint looks dated, and lamps would improve the room. I couldn't get cold water in the shower, which stayed hot. Breakfast was plated on my first day because occupancy was low, then served buffet-style for the rest of my stay. The hotel could use renovations and room updates.

With small children, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to travelers like us. The rooms feel old and gave me a ghostly vibe, and I actually had a nightmare so bad I screamed until my wife shook me awake. The water smelled like it had been sitting stagnant in a tank, which didn't seem suitable for infants. Our key didn't work, so I had to go back to the front desk to replace it. They also still have a noisy old window-type AC.

For a short stay or quick business trip in General Santos City, Hotel San Marco is an economical, practical option. The warm, accommodating staff and affordable overnight rate make it good value. It's also conveniently near the city center and its big malls.

I stayed at Hotel San Marco in General Santos City with my 7 children and 2 sisters, and was very disappointed by the breakfast that was included with our booking. The egg omelette was bland, while the dilis cucumber salad was bitter and tasteless. In general, the food had very little flavor or appeal. A decent, tasty meal matters when traveling with family, especially children, and this breakfast didn't meet even basic taste standards. I hope management takes this seriously and improves the food. Guests deserve better.
