Microtel by Wyndham General Santos

The room itself was very nice, with pleasant interior design, a comfortable bed, and excellent drawer storage for clothes. The location is fairly central. Rooms at the back are near a residential area, though, and you may hear loud dogs barking sometimes. Service needs to catch up with the physical product. The receptionists smiled and welcomed us on arrival, which made a good first impression, but our room key card had to be replaced three times before it worked. We also had to ask staff to switch on a hidden panel for the refrigerator, which guests wouldn't easily know about. When we said the Wi-Fi was slow, we were told IT was in Manila and it couldn't be fixed that night. They could have acknowledged the issue and said they'd pass it along. Restaurant service felt around 2-star level, with little warmth or engagement. No one asked if we'd like coffee or checked on our meal, even though there were only two guests. They offer basic coffee but no barista options. Even small local eateries often feel more welcoming. The room is good, but responsiveness and guest service need to meet the brand standard.

We've stayed at Microtel Gensan a few times for office events, and each visit has gone well. The staff are accommodating and easy to talk to, the food is good, and the location is handy, close to 7-Eleven and fast food, with SM Gensan just a few minutes away on foot. Definitely worth it!

We didn't regret staying, even though it was a bit expensive. Breakfast is free, the room is clean, and the parking feels really safe.

It's in a prime location close to malls and hospitals. The interior feels a little dated, and adding amenities like a pool and gym would improve the stay.
