Sotogrande Iloilo Hotel is a peaceful place for a quiet break from the busy city. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting, and everything was well-maintained, so we felt at home. From arrival through check-in, questions about amenities, and arranging services, the staff were attentive and accommodating. They handled our inquiries and transactions promptly and courteously, making things smooth and hassle-free. Highly recommended for a serene stay in Iloilo with quality service.

We eventually withdrew our wedding booking at Sotogrande Hotel Iloilo after several difficulties during planning. In our experience, we only learned after booking that construction was underway in the garden, communication was delayed, and staff gave us inconsistent information about whether the venue would be ready. We were also told of additional charges that hadn’t come up at our initial meeting, and the hotel offered no compensation for the changes or inconvenience. We’d initially planned a garden wedding at Lake Victoria. We saw the receipt late, and it listed a canopy as the venue, which we had agreed to. But with construction still going on and materials present, we felt the setup wouldn’t do justice to the view for our guests. Although no services were provided to us, the hotel said only ₱7,000 of our ₱48,000 downpayment plus ₱10,000 reservation would be refunded, citing the contract terms. The refund was supposed to come by cheque, but we still haven’t received it. Seeing what happened made us feel sorry for couples who may have booked with Sotogrande but couldn’t withdraw because they lacked the funds. It felt like a different kind of “shotgun marriage.” We’re sharing our personal experience so other couples can be aware, review contracts carefully, and confirm every detail upfront. A wedding happens once in a lifetime, and clear communication and transparency matter when choosing a venue.

The clubhouse could use an update. If you're renting a condo, using any of the facilities, including the swimming pool, costs extra.

My friend saved for over a year for her wedding, but after the venue's service inconsistencies came to light very late, the couple had to find somewhere else at the last minute and tell their guests about the sudden change. It left them with a financial burden, too. I had booked a hotel through them, expecting it to help the day go smoothly, but the experience was the opposite. There was little accountability, and more blame placed on the couple than real support. As a bride-to-be myself, I hate seeing a once-in-a-lifetime day and all that hard-earned money go to waste. Brides don't deserve that kind of stress and heartbreak, especially those working abroad and saving carefully for their dream wedding. Please check venues thoroughly and stick with ones that are tried, tested, and trustworthy (subok na). It could save you a lot of hassle and disappointment.
