Aranas-Carillo Travellers Inn

The bed was a problem for my back because it sank under my weight and didn't bounce back. I chose the cheapest room since I only needed somewhere to sleep that night. The ceiling, shown in the photos I shared, was open, damp, and partly covered with cardboard near the wall painting. The room smelled damp throughout my stay. I arrived late after a delayed flight, so I didn't ask to move to a better room.

The room was neat and clean, and check-in for my online booking was straightforward. I got a corner room on the third floor, close to the city center. The price made the issues easier to accept: there was no hot water, the toilet seat was loose, and water pooled on the floor because of where the drain was. The TV worked, though the picture was blurry since it wasn't cable, and the Wi-Fi was working. The air conditioner only blew warm air, even after I'd left it running for an hour while I went out for food. The owner asked me to give it more time, but it didn't cool down. I opened the cover and found no filter, with dirt filling the grille. I took a photo before cleaning it, and afterward the unit worked perfectly. For the price, it was okay.

We arrived very early in the morning, and the owners warmly welcomed us and let us in. That timing is a real plus in Kalibo's center, where other inns at a similar price often start receiving guests at 2 PM. The place is inexpensive, with clean rooms and private toilets, though our bathroom needed cleaning while we waited. Our room also had a balcony or seating space facing the street. The air conditioner took a while to cool things down. The TV was tiny, and there was no mirror or hot running water in the bathroom. I was also horrified to find a partly used bar of soap. Still, it's a decent, affordable place to rest, especially if you get into Aklan early. I'd recommend it for that situation.

For a one-night stopover, I felt I got my money's worth and slept well. The room smelled damp, though, because it hadn't been deodorized. They helped me find a tricycle when I checked out. I stayed in a non-air-conditioned room for one person, with a fan. The restroom and shower were shared, and a towel was provided.
