Sola Hotel

The staff were super friendly and nice, and that's the only credit I can give. At check-in, I found hair on the floor, and the windows were dirty with bird droppings. The place needs much better cleaning and maintenance. Extra amenities cost more, which was disappointing given the hotel's condition. It also looks outdated and could use renovations and upgrades. I hope management takes these issues seriously and improves the guest experience.

The rooms are well maintained, and when we had an issue, the staff handled it really well. I was especially impressed by how considerate they were with my things. Another guest had been assigned my room for my second day, but I hadn't decided whether to extend my stay. While I was in another city, staff called to say the guest was waiting. I told them I couldn't check out or transfer just then, so they moved my things to a new room for me. They put everything back just as I'd left it, from my shoes and toothbrush to my open luggage, separated dirty clothes, and laptop under the TV. They've been so helpful in little ways too, always greeting me and assisting with my bike parking, luggage, and opening the door when my hands were full. It's the most thoughtful service I've had at an accommodation. I'm very thankful and impressed.

The aircon in our room barely worked. We only had one key, which made it difficult for us to go out separately. The electricity would shut off, so the room couldn't stay cool.

The room had no phone to reach the front desk, so we had to call them on our cellphones. There are charges for almost everything, which felt like a budol on top of the room price. We came back from dinner at night and asked to borrow an iron and ironing board, but they wouldn't lend them. They offered an ironing service, but it only starts at 8am. Room slippers cost extra, and extra pillows cost Php 900 each. Do guests really steal pillows? There's no wifi in the room, only outside in an open area where mosquitoes would eat you alive. Cellphone signal is very weak too. Sayang pera.
