HalfWay House Hostel - Mactan Cebu Airport

This was a really bad stay. The room floor was broken and dirty, and the property and washroom were very dirty too. When I asked to have the room cleaned, they said it would be done the next day. The toilet and washroom are together, and there are no lockers. My Agoda booking listed check-in at 2 p.m., so I arrived then, but they refused to let me in. They said their own check-in time was 3 p.m. I explained I'd traveled a long way and asked if a vacant room could be made available, but the receptionist refused and told me to contact Agoda or leave. The listing also said locker and complimentary water and tea or coffee were provided, but I had to pay for coffee and each 330 ml bottle of water. The service felt completely unprofessional and not suited to hospitality. A bitter experience.

I was stuck in Cebu for a day, and this hostel was handy for the airport, though it's a little remote in a busy neighborhood. The place is spacious and clean, and the owners are really nice. They helped me with several things and were very attentive. I'd recommend staying here.

We got the private room with a bathroom and AC, and it was great value. The staff were very helpful, even when we checked in at 3 AM. It's only a 10-minute ride from the airport. Highly recommend.

Worst hostel I've stayed in. I paid 100 pesos for water at night, then in the morning they said I'd only paid 25 and still owed 75. While I was asleep, I also felt a mouse under my ear. Maybe that can happen, but I called the staff, a man and a woman, and they said they'd come. They showed up 45 minutes later and didn't seem to care. I can't recommend this place.
