The Bellavista Hotel

After traveling, it was frustrating to find our room still wasn’t ready at the stated check-in time. Nobody apologized or made a professional effort to sort it out, and that set a bad tone for the stay. The reception staff were unfriendly and unhelpful throughout. Even simple questions got a poor attitude and little effort, so my partner and I felt like an inconvenience instead of welcome guests. Customer service makes a big difference when traveling, and this hotel fell short. We wouldn’t stay again or recommend it.

The pool was the main reason we booked, and really the hotel’s only saving grace, so it was frustrating to learn by email the day before arrival that it was closed for maintenance. They must have known well in advance, but waited until it was too late to cancel. There was no discount, upgrade, or even acknowledgment. The hotel was rundown, our room was poor, and the service was worse. They didn’t clean the room or make up the beds, and the towels weren’t changed. Breakfast was basic but fine. Our airport shuttle was very late, and we were nearly about to take a taxi when we spotted the van and ran over for a ride.

I booked online for the wrong date by mistake. While I was at the property, they suggested canceling that reservation and booking a room directly, so I did. I also exchanged quite a bit of currency there, and the staff were very helpful with that. The problem is that Booking sent me a message saying the property had denied my cancellation request. I ended up paying for both nights even though I didn’t stay the second night. I’ve been trying to contact the property in hopes of sorting this out and upgrading my review, but the website’s contact links don’t work, so I haven’t reached anyone.

A nice hotel for a night or two. They offer free airport pickup or drop-off. The room WiFi was slow, but the lobby connection was good, and there’s a Smart TV so you can watch YouTube. The rooftop pool is great. No complaints.
