The Stopover Hostel Mactan

It’s an easy distance from the airport, and I’d stay again. The place is clean, and the dorm bathroom is convenient. Each bed has its own privacy curtain, power socket, and lamp, handy if you want to read during the night.

We only needed somewhere to sleep from 9 PM to 3 AM before our early flight, so we booked around 8 that night and took a Grab there. The affordable price and location were what mattered to us. We didn’t use the shower because it looked like there was no hot water, and the blankets weren’t very comfortable. Instead, we ordered Grab Food and got burgers from a store nearby. We also filled a tumbler at the “Piso Water Machines” near the building. WiFi worked well, and the staff were helpful.

The beds were reasonably comfortable, and they do provide towels, but I found it very overpriced for this kind of hostel. There are much nicer hostels in Cebu city, some with a pool or bar, for much less. The rooms are basic and small, and the common area is somewhere to sit but not a relaxing or nice space. Staff were friendly. The cold shower had weak pressure, I had to ask for toilet paper, and there’s no bathroom bin, so someone had already clogged it with paper. Really just a stopover hostel.

The staff were super friendly and accommodating, and the place itself is clean and nice. It’s inexpensive and conveniently close to the airport. I liked the customized brochure with ideas for places to visit in Cebu. We stayed at a budget hotel in downtown Cebu last year, and this was way better. I’d definitely come back next time I visit Cebu.
