Sulyap Bed & Breakfast – Casa de Alitagtag Boutique Hotel

I had a lunch meeting here recently, and Sulyap made a great setting for it. The heritage atmosphere is quiet and dignified, which worked well for business conversation without the usual coffee-shop noise. The preserved old houses give the place character. Lunch was excellent, traditional Filipino comfort food with a more elevated feel. Highly recommended for professionals who need a venue in San Pablo that makes an impression on clients.

Dinner here felt like stepping back in time. The old house is nostalgic, and the menu reflects the restaurant’s heritage. The classic Filipino dishes stay true to local flavors. It’s not air-conditioned, so heat-sensitive people may want to bear that in mind, especially in summer. I wouldn’t go at the height of summer, but the food, atmosphere, and experience make it worth trying. There’s also a hotel and an event venue on site, so you can get a full heritage experience.

The tree view was lovely, but the pool was below standard and the room had ants, other insects, geckos, and mosquitoes that left me with bites. The hotel and all its services shut down at 8:00 PM, which made this feel like an experience I wouldn't repeat. I stayed three nights, and had hoped for much better during my visit to the city. The floor was uneven enough to make walking difficult, especially for older people or anyone in high heels. I hope they level it. The building's age doesn't explain the lack of a refrigerator, phone, or enough towels. I also hope they spray for pests across the property. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless things change.

The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere, and there's plenty to choose from. The coffee was good too. I didn't get to see the museum, so I'd come back for that and for the ambiance. The servings felt small, and the food was hit or miss. I liked the Pako salad, but there was so much vinaigrette that it overwhelmed it. Dressing on the side would be better. The kulawo didn't have the smoky taste I expected; to me, it was like the ordinary ginataang puso ng saging I usually order from a karinderia.
