The room was okay in some ways, but the bathtub couldn't be used, only the shower, and there was no water heater, so I had to shower in cold water. There was no bathroom floor mat either, and housekeeping only came every three days. The gym was fine, but there's no swimming pool. On my first day at Oxford Suites Makati, the staff were friendly. The receptionists were fairly friendly too, and the doorman in his 30s and male housekeeper in his 20s were helpful. But checkout was a different story. I was still packing when the female housekeeper, who looked to be in her 50s, knocked and came in to do housekeeping. I found that disrespectful. Later, the doorman, also around 50, saw me struggling with my luggage and didn't offer a hand. When I asked the housekeeper for my room key, she was rude. This was my first time staying in Makati. I usually stay at City Garden Hotel, City Garden Grand Hotel, I'm Hotel, or St. Giles Hotel, but they were fully booked while I was on vacation, so I had no choice but to stay here. After that last day, I don't think I'll come back.

The room floors and walls were dirty, and the beds were hard and lopsided. There's no pool, despite the picture online, and the gym has just three pieces of equipment. The staff seemed lazy, and anything we asked for took an hour to arrive. Nothing but lies and lousy service. For the love of God, save yourself the trouble and don't come here!

The higher-floor rooms are quieter, which helps in this busy area surrounded by nightlife. The bed was comfortable, the AC was cold, and the shower had hot water, though the pressure was a little weak. The rooms need renovation, and the place is a bit run down. Filling Station restaurant is right across the street. It works if you just need somewhere to sleep, but this isn't exactly a family-friendly area.

I went straight to reception and got a much better deal than I saw on the online sites. The staff were so kind and helpful throughout my long stay.

For the price, I'd definitely stay again. The staff are really friendly, and parking is good. The rooms are insulated enough that you can make a fair bit of noise at 3 a.m. without disturbing anyone. It's not too expensive, and Filling Station, one of the best diners in the Philippines, is right across the street. A cool spot if you want to experience Manila's red light district. I'd recommend it.
