Best Western Plus Antel Hotel

There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, including fast food chains, so finding food is easy. The area is very busy, though, and the surroundings aren't high class. Traffic on the main road out front is always jammed, which put me off getting around by cab. The hotel itself is clean and spacious. The toilet shower tap needs replacing because it doesn't work properly, and there's no bidet wash in the toilet. The room has a noisy window unit AC. It's only rated a three-star hotel, so keep expectations modest.

It's in a handy spot near lots of shops and restaurants. I visited a friend, and his room was pleasant for one person but would feel cramped with two or more. The four elevators are small, but they're fast.

I stayed at the hotel on March 5 and 6 of 2015, and would use it again. The staff were nice, engaging, and smart. Maybe it helped that I'm a spirited guy and befriended a few of them. There was a mix-up with the smoking room I'd requested, but they sorted it quickly and gave me what I asked for without charging extra. They also fixed the hot water in my room. I usually avoid franchise hotel chains overseas as an American, but I'm glad I gave this one a try. I had no roach problem or anything like that. The hotel is somewhat hidden from immediate view from Makati Ave., and construction on the lot in front of it will make that worse.

The rooms are clean and well kept, and the facilities are maintained well. Service could use improvement, but it's hard to go wrong with an affordable business hotel and decent promo packages. You're mainly paying for the location, with access to the Metro's Central Business District at a fraction of the cost of a 5-star hotel along the CBD.
